Homeopathy School of Houston

Diploma of Homeopathic Care (DHC-P)

This is our foundational diploma course. The duration of this class is approximately 18 months, of monthly class meetings, one weekend per month, scheduled over two 9 month segments. Classes will not meet in summer. The class is limited in size to 10 students per year. This course also includes a 150 hour basic practicum over 5 months through Homeopathy Center of Houston. For students who intend to practice homeopathy in a professional setting, the advanced DSH-P course will also be expected to be completed before practicing homeopathy, as well as meeting whatever certification or licensure requirements may be required in the location of intended practice.

The DHC course also is ideal for those who have an interest in homeopathic self-care, but wish to advance beyond what is typically learned in a study group or weekend workshop setting. It is excellent for the advanced self-care or hobby level homeopath.

A post-baccalaureate level diploma, this course is prerequisite foundational course for the advanced Diploma in Sequential Homeopathic Practice (DSH-P). Enrollees must have completed a Bachelor degree prior to enrollment in the DCH-P course.

The course is meant to give a firm foundation of understanding of basic homeopathic philosophy, case-taking and repertory skills that will become necessary before moving forward to advanced study of sequential practice. An overview of philosophy, practical skills, and the tools of homeopathic medicine will be taught in this course. Basic anatomy, physiology and professional ethics is integrated into this curriculum, as well as a solid basis of understanding of homeopathic pharmacy.

The 150 hour practicum will offer an opportunity to work with acute cases, or interim problems with clients undergoing advanced sequential homeopathic treatment, over a 6 month period. The practicum is offered at the same time as the final 5 months of study. The student will become involved with keeping a stock of homeopathic remedies, dispensing methods, and will be responsible for oversight of her own 6 cases, which can include friends or family members, which will be shared in class. The student must turn in a log detailing the responsibilities undertaken and hours spent in the practicum. This will be returned at the course end.

Please call our office for a catalog with course outline and application forms.

Advanced Diploma in Sequential/Integrative Homeopathic Practice (DS/IHom.-P)

This is the advanced practitioner level course. Prerequisite: completion of the DHC-P course, or equivalent, by approval of the faculty only. Admission will include an extensive application and review process, an interview, and permission of the overseeing practitioner.

The course will be taught over a two year period, as follows: 7 monthly weekend lectures, teleconferences, required major research project in homeopathy, plus 500 hours of clinical mentorship with Homeopathy Center of Houston practitioners. At the end of this program it is expected that the student will be educationally and experientially well prepared for the professional practice of homeopathy.

Advanced homeopathic philosophy, case-taking and repertory skills will be taught. Additionally, the student will be taught tonic (causation-related) and pathic (symptom-related) homeopathic pathology and differential diagnosis.

During the mentorship program there will be ample opportunity to sit in on advanced cases, as well as having regularly scheduled case-conference type meetings with the practitioner in charge.

At the completion of this course, or before, the student must also complete a Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification course. These may be offered through local hospitals, or it is possible these may be offered by HSH, if enough participants are available.
